Summer Camping Recipes That Will Keep You Cool

It’s a no brainer to pack the marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate for your next camping trip. But have you considered what other summer camping recipes your kids will absolutely love? There are delicious and easy things that you can plan ahead for, for every meal and snacks as well! Not everything has to be cooked over a flame, and some of these camping recipes will help keep you cool!

Camping Breakfast Ideas

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! If your kids are ready to wake up and hit the lake or go hiking, make sure that have something to fill them up and give them energy. It also helps when they don’t overheat right when they get up, before a long day ahead! Some ideas to consider are: Overnight Oats, granola and yogurt with fruit. Overnight oats you can make the night before, throw them in the fridge and be all ready for the next day. Take some quick oats in Tupperware or a mason jar, add milk, chocolate chips, cinnamon, bananas or other fruits, close tightly and throw in the fridge for a delicious morning meal. You can also throw some granola or fruit in your yogurt and get some good protein and energy to start your day!

Camp Friendly Snacks

Make sure to snack throughout the day so you can stay active, awake, and aware all day long. You may pack the usual chips, wraps, and cookies. But there are healthy snacks you can bring that will also help keep you cool on that hot summer day. Pack some veggies and hummus, a chilled peanut butter and jelly, or a cup of fruit salad. These snacks are a healthy way to stay on the hiking trails a little bit longer, wont melt in the sun, and you don’t have to worry about heating them up or cooking anything.

Meals Perfect for Camping

For dinner, you may have some yummy meals planned for the grill or the campfire which are going to be great! It is also a good idea to have some meals or sides that are cooler so that you have something refreshing to eat with your meals. Consider making some cold pasta salads with a creamy mixture and some veggies. You can also bring a rotisserie chicken to make chicken salad for sandwiches or croissants.  Don’t waste your time sweating over that grill or in your RV over the stove! Make some of these cool meals in stead that your whole family will enjoy!

Campfire Desserts

No meal is complete without a refreshing, chilled dessert!  One of my favorites is a minty watermelon popsicle! Puree 2.5 cups of watermelon pieces, mint leaves, coconut water, lime juice, and honey. From there, you can divide them evenly into the molds and insert the stick, then let them sit in the freezer until you are ready to eat. If you want to get the kids involved a bit more, consider making some yummy camping dirt cups! All you need for this is, chocolate sandwich cookies, 1 package of chocolate instant pudding, 2 cups of cold milk, cool whip and plenty of gummy worms! Crunch the cookies up in a bag, then make the pudding in a large bowl. Add the pudding, cookies, and cool whip mixture together, then place them evenly in cups. Your kiddos can then decorate the top with more cookie dirt and lots of gummy worms!

These are some chillingly good summer camping recipes for you and your family to have some great and memorable meals together without having to light up the grill! You can make a lot of the stuff before and it will be refreshing, cool, and absolutely delicious for you and the whole family! We wish you a wonderful summer of camping!
