To avoid any upset and make things a little easier, we found a few of the best dog-friendly campgrounds in Pennsylvania. These sites around the state are perfect for your best friend, as long as they remain on a leash.

Delaware Water Gap/Pocono Mountain KOA

East Stroudsburg

Offering an assortment of cabins, RV sites and tent sites this KOA campground is perfect for any type of camping. Along with pet-friendly cabins and shaded or sunny campsites, Delaware Water offers a complimentary K-9 play park. Your pup can lose the leash and run free in the fenced-in dog park. If you’re looking for more interactive fun, there are plenty of obstacles and agility equipment to provide stimulation and fun for a totally pooped pooch. There are no breed restrictions or approval requirements listed online at the time of publication.

Lampe Campground

On the sunny shores of Lake Erie, Lampe Campground is a dog-friendly campground with plenty of space for relaxation. There are 42 waterfront campsites to choose from, and dogs are more than welcome. Pets must be supervised and kept on a leash at all times at this park. While there is no dog park, there’s also no shortage of grassy fields and sandy lakefront areas to roam. Lampe Campground is the perfect campground for your favorite water-loving breed.

Forest Ridge Cabin & Campground

Marienville

If lakefront isn’t your thing, or your dog isn’t a fan of the water, Forest Ridge might be the perfect option. It’s named aptly, with quiet, wooded campsites that encourage privacy and peace on the southwest edge of the Allegheny National Forest. This dog-friendly campground includes both campsites that allow pets and four pet-friendly rental cabins to choose from. There are no breed restrictions at this campground, and it’s conveniently close to a number of hiking trails and other outdoor attractions for your whole family.

Mount Pocono Campground

Mount Pocono

This family-focused campground located in the Pocono Mountains feels like a rural paradise while only 90 minutes from New York City. The mountainous campground features a heated swimming pool for their human guests and a dog run for their K-9 campers. Leashes are required outside of the dog run. Once inside the run, only a collar or harness is required. Keep in mind that you will need approval from the campground to have more than two pets at your campsite.

Gettysburg/Battlefield KOA

This forested campsite offers both a connection with nature and the echo of American history. Near downtown Gettysburg, this KOA campground welcomes your pup to join your tour through the historic battlegrounds. It also offers a pet playground for some exercise and agility training. At the time of publication, there are no breed restrictions, breed applications or pet fees listed on the campground website.

French Creek State Park
